A Day in Our Toddler Program

Toddlers thrive with a familiar routine while still needing plenty of flexibility to explore, play, and follow their curiosity. Our daily schedule provides a comfortable rhythm to the day while encouraging independence and helping children develop the skills they will use as they grow.

A typical day may include:

• Arrival, breakfast & morning play

• Morning meeting, songs & stories

• Hands-on learning & classroom exploration

• Diapering, bathroom routines & handwashing

• Outdoor play & gross motor activities

• Lunch

• Rest time

• Choice time & departure

Our schedule remains flexible to meet the needs and interests of the children. We believe some of the best learning happens when children are fully engaged in an experience, so our teachers have the freedom to slow down, explore, and follow where children's curiosity leads.

What to Bring for Your Toddler

Please provide:

• All meals and snacks needed for the day

• Diapers and wipes, if needed

• At least two complete changes of clothing

• Sheet and blanket for rest time

• A special blanket, stuffed animal, or other approved comfort item

• Diaper creams or lotions, if needed

• Labeled water bottle

Please clearly label all of your child's belongings with their first and last name. Toddlers often have similar clothing, cups, blankets, and other items, so labeling helps us make sure everything returns to the correct family.

Moving, Playing & Exploring

Movement is an important part of every toddler's day at Roots. Children have daily opportunities to run, climb, dance, balance, explore outdoors, and strengthen their growing bodies. These experiences support coordination, confidence, independence, and a healthy love of being active.
