We know that choosing someone to care for your baby is one of the biggest decisions you will make. At Roots Learning Center, our infant program is designed to feel like an extension of home—a warm, nurturing environment where your baby feels safe, loved, and secure while building trusting relationships with the people who care for them each day.

During the first year of life, babies are constantly learning through their relationships and interactions with the world around them. Our teachers provide individualized, responsive care while creating opportunities for sensory exploration, movement, language, music, and play. Rather than expecting babies to fit into a classroom schedule, we follow each child's individual rhythms and routines, including feeding, sleeping, and awake times.

 

Relationships Come First

Each infant is connected with a primary caregiver who gets to know your baby's personality, cues, preferences, and routines. This consistency helps build the secure relationships that are so important during infancy and also creates a strong connection between home and school.

Communication with families is an important part of that relationship. We want you to know about the little moments in your baby's day—from bottles and naps to new discoveries, milestones, smiles, and everything in between.

Learning Through Everyday Moments

For an infant, even the simplest experience can be an opportunity to learn. Reaching for a toy, listening to a song, exploring a new texture, looking at a book, practicing tummy time, or interacting with a teacher all support development.

Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to give infants a safe and comfortable space to move, explore, interact, and discover at their own pace. Teachers observe each child's development and interests and provide experiences that support cognitive, physical, language, social, and emotional growth.

Growing With Your Child

As your baby grows and becomes ready for the next stage, we work closely with families to plan a gradual transition into our toddler program. Rather than making the change all at once, children are given opportunities to become familiar with their new classroom, teachers, friends, and routines before completing the transition.

Because every child develops differently, readiness—not simply a birthday—helps guide the transition. Our teachers and families work together to determine when each child is ready to take that next step.

Starting child care is a transition for the entire family, and we understand that leaving your baby for the first time can be emotional. We encourage questions, communication, and partnership from the very beginning.
